Sony Names Doug Morris New Head of Sony Music Entertainment







Doug Morris, head of Universal Music Group, is taking his talents to Sony Music Entertaining. Beginning July 1.The recording industry veteran will be taking over chief executive duties, replacing Rolf Schmidt-Holtz, who will be leaving March 31, reports the New York Times.

Howard Stringer, the chief executive of the Sony Corporation, will oversee Sony Music in the interim,“At this critical time in the evolution of the music industry, I can think of no one more qualified as a proven executive, an innovator, a music impresario and a statesman than Doug Morris,” Mr. Stringer said in a statement.
